My other half goes down to kent on a regular basis
to spend time with his Dad and family
but I haven't been able to see them
for several months.
Cambridge is about half way between us so we made arrangements
to meet there for lunch.
The Restaurant we had booked was overlooking
the River Cam, which seemed very high and was right
next to the weir.
There was a canoe race going on and the weir has to be
negotiated by running around carrying the canoe
which was very entertaining to watch.
As we had a lot of catching up to do so we didn't
do much exploring around the city
but did as least we did see some Punts moored.
Luckily for the men they weren't open as
I rather fancy being taken down the river in one.
I would have to have a parasol and pretty
summer dress on
of course.
We had such a great time we have agreed
we will have to do it again soon.
Hope you had a good weekend.

Lovely photos. We had a quiet weekend in as it was too cold out to do anything. Games, movies and cooking, so no complaints here.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful day and of course that would be the only way to travel down the river with parasol in hand.
ReplyDeleteWhat lovely phots Gill! I'm so glad you shared them. Hugs! deb
ReplyDeleteBe sure you go back in summer, dressed in a pretty dress and parasol in hand so they'll have to take you on a ride down the river.
ReplyDeleteLove a good day out! The weather looks quite clement....I say this because I will be in London on Thursday and don't have much in the way or warm clothes.

Hi Gill - don't think I'd like to be out on the river in this weather!

I'm not far from Cambridge, one of my fave places to go for lunch is The Anchor near the Mathematical Bridge :) It's not quite the weather for punting, you need to come back in the warmer weather. :)
