Full of the joys of Spring

Walking the dogs,Tilly and Mack,(Tilly is the Labrador)

in the Norfolk countryside this morning was glorious.

The trees full of blossom and the birds singing. Not that I have any idea what sort of birds they were.I'm no birdwatcher and they are too small and moved too quickly for me to even see them, let alone identify them, but it was lovely too hear them.

Even the ever present Pheasant shout, them I can identify,we have so many around here. I even remembered my camera this morning so there are some photo's for you. This area will be full of grasses and wild flower soon so I'll try to get some pictures that do it justice.

When I got home I decided to pick some spring flowers for the kitchen table so as to carry on the feeling.

Great East Swim

Oh dear, what have I done. I have taken n a challenge set by my son.
Maybe I should explain, My son and one of my daughters work for the RNLI beach lifeguards and are both really fit and of course good swimmers. Last year alot of the life guards did the Great East Swim which is a a open water swim of a mile to raise money for the RNLI. Move forward to earlier this year and a family curry night where I have had a couple of gins. Son says" so mum are you going to do the open water swim this year? and the gin answered "yea why not". Now don't get me wrong I can swim a mile or at least I used to be able to, it has been a while since I tried but the open water bit. I was 15 the last time I did that.
So of course having said I would, I am going through with it.

It takes place on the 19th June at Alton Water Park,Ipswich.
Wish me luck.

Kids, don't you love 'em

I really did think they had moved out but no, back they come. Eldest is ill so he comes home to Mum and Dad for a few weeks, so I put him in one of his sisters rooms. His has been turned into my workshop/studio and his sister now lives in Devon. Well during term time she does, come the school holidays home she comes. Now Youngest is coming back from travelling around the world so I have gone from having none to having 3 back. I had forgotten how much they eat and how much space they take up. Then to top it all eldest is taking sneaking pictures of me and putting them on facebook. Still people kept telling me "don't think they have gone for good, they do keep coming back" so I can't say I wasn't warned.

Life began at 50.

I started this blog when I left work and became "a lady that does lunch" as my Husband calls me. It was a real venture into the unknown for me as I have worked since I was 14. Well I now have a shop on Folksy.com and have sold a few things which it very exciting as it means I'm not the only one that likes what I make but I have also been to Australia on a girly trip. I can now keep up with friends, visit gardens, do my own garden and the list goes on. How on earth did I find time to work full time and bring up a family. Well however I did it, I don't want to go back, life began at 50.

Back from Oz

Well that went quickly. One minute I'm planning and dreaming of 4 weeks travelling on the other side of the world and the next it's all over.
We (sister-in-law Annemarie and I) left Heathrow early in the morning for our first destination, Brunei.Four nights here.A walk in the jungle, trip on the river, visit to a mosque and a swim in the South China sea bfore moving on to Australia.
first stop, a week driving along the Gold Coast,
Byron Bay,Coff's harbour,Nambucca head, Salamander bay and ending in Sydney for a week.
After all the usual sights( or so i'm told) it was onto Melbourne via a horrible bumpy flight. Wine tasting, shepherding, Kangaroo watching and rock climbing, Loved it.
Back onto an aeroplane and to Brisbane for a couple of days before flying home. God I need a holiday. Fantastic.
