The long Road

I know I've done quite a few posts about flowers recently but I love spring flowers and I've waited a year to show you these pictures.
There's a country lane a couple of miles out of town which runs past a lovely old country house and at some stage the owners must have decided to make the lane more interesting by planting a few of these.

A few thousand that is.

Swaps and Makes

Well my wonderful morning turned into a wonderful day .
The  fabric I won in a giveaway from Traci at Handmadehappiness arrived in the post.
Don't you love those colours. Thank you Traci.

Then , on my way to have coffee with my friend Loopylou, I had to pick a parcel up from the post office. It was very difficult to wait until I got to  lou's house  before  opening it hence no before pictures-too impatient.  It was my Spring swap from Ali-at Magic making hands.

Well that's just what she has(sorry bad pun)
anyway, I just love these tiny flowers as did lou.

There is nothing like buttons, I just have to play with them with lots of oh's and ha's. These were at the bottom of the pretty box it all come in along with the chocolate mini eggs which of course didn't last long enough to be photographed.

These colours are positively delicious, reminds me of sherbet space ships from when I was a kid.
This has made it to my car keys.

Lots of lovely lace, I like the way it is wrapped around the pegs, I'm going to get more pegs and do this with all my lace.

Lou and I had great fun unwrapping all this, especially Lou as she is just about to start blogging and this has given her more enthusiasm.  All this excitement was watched by Fat Cat (real name Cleo) who was totally unimpressed.  The crochet cotton in the corner of the picture is a tiny part of a job lot Lou got at an Auction in the most beautiful autumn colours, loads of  it.

Some people just have the knack don't they

I've had a busy sewing month, although I'm not very happy with one make but still---

The first thing has to be Stanley of course using the pattern from Annie at Felt Fairy.
Mr T loves him so he has a permanent place in the lounge.

This is what i'm not that happy with. It is supposed to be part of the Charlie Harper quilt along (my first ) organised by Flaming stitches but plan A went horribly wrong, so I reverted to plan b and did it by needle felting.

This is the original, sorry about the size.
I think there might have to be a plan c.

Any way here are some of the other thing I have made this month.
My first crochet cushion.

American style lunch bags made with oilcloth. Mine is the one with the houses, the other one is for Little one when she gets home from her travels.

The pegs are from Muddy puddle crafts.

A little zipped bag for new great Niece/ nephew.

and a summer shoulder bag for me.

Sorry, It's turned out to be a long post hasn't it.

Keep well all of you.

For the love of Hellebores

The past week has been " Hellebore Week" in the gardens at work ( Yes I'm really working now).  Now I have a couple of Hellebores in my garden and they are nice to have as an early flower but I must admit I wasn't sure what all the fuss was about.  So off I go, camera to hand to find out.
These are a tiny sample of what I found and it was super seeing all these lovely flowers in "The Dell" which is quite a shaded, damp area.

some of the photos are a bit blurry but the colours are so rich.

Quite a variety

I don't think I'll stay the night in the local hotel though.

I think now I know why they are proud of their display It was lovely.

Lunch Date

The wonderful Mr. T had to collect something from Norwich this morning and offered a wander around the shops and to buy me lunch.  How could I resist.
I managed to get a couple of the photos needed for this months scavenger hunt but you will have to wait to see those, but on our way to Pizza Express via Lower Goat Lane,  I found a new shop.

It's called " Cherry Cherry" and sells crafty bits like an art gallery.

My mum had a cupboard like that when I was small.

Hiding inside are these lovely cats.

a table full of goodies.

A bit of hooky going on.

 I love this.

And this jewellery made from broken crockery.

So if your reading this Karen we have some new places to visit next time you come.

Then on the way home a stop to buy some Daffs on the side of the road.

He cooked Dinner as well. What a wonderful man.

Giveaway closes midnight Wednesday.
See you soon.

Worry? me!

To say I'm tired would,I think, be an understatement.

I will start with yesterday because that is what has worn me out the worst.  Can anyone tell me why we have children? For my sins I have 3, all grown up, not so much to worry about you would think.

Yesterday morning my son rang , " Mum,  Have you heard the news?" " No"  " There's been a hugh earthquake in Japan" " Oh God, those poor people." " The thing is Mum, They have issued a Tsunami warning to the whole of the Pacific ring" It at this point that I realise why he is ringing.

My little one is travelling in South East Asia and we have no idea exactly where she is. We haven't heard from her for a couple of weeks and I was starting to get a bit concerned anyway. The last we heard she was thinking of going to Indonesia which is in the way of the wave.

Mr T is his annoyingly calm self saying don't worry she'll be fine and heads out to the garden.

 Don't worry!
 DON'T WORRY!!!!

I'm a mother I'm supposed to worry.

But

A message came through this morning,
" Hey all, I'm in Vietnam"
She is totally unaware of what is going on.
I ask again Why do we have children?

As for the rest of the week

I did my first real working days for nearly 2 years, How on earth I worked full time shift work and looked after a family for years I have no idea.

I've been spring cleaning the Blickling plant centre ready for it's opening today.

It looked very sad on Sunday.

All locked up

Empty displays.

All looks very grey.

Piles of stock both old and new.

Even the Christmas decorations are still in place.

Then after washing, brushing, tidying, carrying, pricing and even a bit of DIY

AND

The arrival of hundreds of plants, ( it could be expensive working here)

We are ready to go , even if the weather is still grey.

Lots of colourful new stock,
I love these kneelers.

And these

No wonder I'm tired.

Before I go just a reminder that only a couple of days before I draw my giveaway so if you want to enter go to the link on my side bar.

Hope you are all well, hello to all my new followers and I hope you all enjoy the rest of your weekend.
