A mixed bag

Well my dears, I've been spending money this week.
I went to Amazon and got a couple of books that I liked the look of
to add to my library of crafts books. I haven't told MrT yet and he won't notice them in the bunch.
Is that too naughty?

Then I went to Kandi Pandis shop on  Folksy and got myself one of her Mini Hexi kits (Thank you Lisa) so I can give patchwork a go----again.

Then I sat down at my sewing machine with my new Adele CD and
heres my Monthly Makes.

A new notebook cover from a damage table cloth,

Then a couple of washbags and lunch bags for my Folksy shop.
(Link button on the side)

I love this pattern,

Then last night was the main expense.

This was were I went

This was who I went to see.
Do you know who it is yet?

This is what we paid for , certainly to start.

Well this is what three of my friends and I spoilt ourselves with.

We started at about 6 o'clock with a couple of cocktails before heading off to Norwich City
football ground to have a three course meal consisting of recipes from his new book of Spanish cooking.
The first course was a crab tartlet which was fantastic.
Then we had Chicken in a super almond sauce
and finished with a flan and sherry and raisin ice-cream.

My photo aren't great (well I did have wine as well as cocktails.)

This is as close as I got I'm afraid but we did get a talk which was quite good.

But look who else was there talking to a couple of my friends,
well it is her restaurant.
It was one of those experiences that you just have to take when they come along
if you want to live life to the full
and I had a great time.

So here is my Plant of the week (I love Holyhocks)  to wish you all a great weekend
and hope you all manage to live life to the full.

Midsummer

We should know it's Midsummer as it's pouring with rain here and has been all night not to mention all week, well on and off but as yet nobody has mentioned lifting the drought restrictions. Not that it matters to me, the last thing I need to do is water the garden and the water butts are full and then some.

So as I'm talking about my garden, here is my favourite lily and my plant of the week.
The colour is so rich I just wish I had more of them. I always keep my lilies in pots as they tend to get eaten in the beds but with the pots I keep them at the back of the summer house until they are growing well when out them come to brighten the patio before going back to their hid hole for the winter.  It works really well.

I received my Midsummer Swap yesterday from Sue over at@home and was excited enough with the tape on the parcel. I must get me some of that it's so pretty.

Lots of very pretty little parcels, love the colour of the wrapping.

This was the first thing I opened and was over the moon (sorry for the pun).
I put them on straight away and even Mr T said "they look really nice" Compliment indeed.

Theres a mobile phone charm, earrings and a bracelet and I think Sue has made the beads herself. I know how clever she is with glass as I have a lovely glass ladybird of hers.

But of course they weren't the only thing I got, Look
Stars and moon bunting and a brooch and buttons which are gorgeous. The scrummy chocolates helped me get through the stress of watching Andy Murray last night. There goes the diet again.

I can't believe how generous she has been so a huge
Thank you Sue.

Have a great weekend folks and see you soon.

Plant of the week and a mystery.

I have got a bit behind with this so here are a couple of weeks worth of my beautiful peonies.

Now for the mystery. Do any of you wonderful gardeners out there know what this plant is. I saw it at Stourhead in the walled garden but couldn't find it's name. It really is gold and feels like paper but I can't find it in any of my books.

I'll tell you about my felting course tomorrow.
Have a great day.

Plant of the week

I bought this Clematis the year my Mother had her first stroke as it is called Marjorie which was her name and now it climbs all over my apple tree.

Clematis Montana Marjorie

Every bit as lovely as its name sake who I miss terribly.

29 and counting

All out May 1st.
My father used to say this when  he had to get a load of kids  out of the car for school.
Along with being Labour day, international workers day and goodness knows how many other celebration days around the world-
It is my Wedding Anniversary.
This is me and Mr T 29 years ago today.

And here we are now still going strong (this is the best of a bad bunch).
I did make one mistake though,we got married 2 days before my birthday as I didn't want to be 1 year older than him on our wedding certificate, I'm 6 weeks older.  The trouble is now everything is over with in a couple of days and I get all my pressies in one basket so to speak. You see I got a good one, he has never once forgotten ( I have though, very embarrassing).

I got a new clematis as my present this year so of course it has to be my Plant of the week.

.

Anyway here's to many more.

So what did I do on my anniversary, well I was the cycling back up team to this group of High school employees who did an eight mile sponsored run around the countryside.

Past the village pond

Through the woods

Past the old mill.

across the river

 and nearly home.

A well earned rest --for them anyway.

And of course tea and cakes.

Hope you had a good day and enjoy your Bank Holiday tomorrow, I'm now off for a posh meal out.

Plant of the week

My garden is coming to life, things are budding and flowering all over the place. So I have decided that once a week I will choose a plant out of my garden to be PLANT OF THE WEEK and just post a photo of the plant with it's name, if I know it.

So here is this weeks----Contorted Hazel
