My 12 photo's for February's Scavenger Hunt.

A bridge at Cromer leading to the beach.

My Shoes

A post box in miniature that sits in my print tray.

Stripes in a field by a well trained tractor driver.

Lovely RED berries

A Park bench in Norwich.

Musical instruments in a shop window in Norwich. i like the purple one.

I thought this was an awful pun for a news headline.

Lots of large round clock faces in Exeter Quays.

Eyes from a stone statue.

A large lorry, next to Mr T anyway.

A shell heart in Cromer.

Looking forward to the next list.

Return to Childhood Haunts

As a child I spent many happy hours on the beaches of South Devon but haven't actually been back since I was 16 (a long time ago).  So today I returned to one of those childhood haunts where my Gran used to drink tea on the beach out of proper china and would have Devon ice cream with clotted cream on the top.

This is where we went.

With lovely coloured houses looking out to sea.

Fathers and Daughters walk along the sea front.

And the trains go right along the coast.

As a child I always looked to see the trains as my Gran's brothers were train drivers and would sound the horn if they knew we were there.

The cliffs are so red.

And the houses are old.

Well this one is anyway.

The streets are narrow.

And the river runs through the centre of town.

The weather wasn't as nice as I remember and the beach wasn't as big but it is a lovely old fashioned seaside town and I can see why it was my Mum's and Gran's favourite.

To change the subject

I have been counting down for a couple of weeks now and my  100th  post is coming up so it is nearly time for a giveaway.  I won't tell you now what it is going to be but I will give you a clue.

See you in a few days.

On the road again.

I'm on the road again.

This time with Mr T and heading back down to Eldest daughter in Exeter for half term.
So of course work basket has to come too.

Travelling is a great  for a bit of hooking with some spare wool.
Can you tell what it is yet?

Then we stopped in Cleveden in Somerset for afternoon tea.
This is the place that has the pier that is in " Never let me go"

Don't they look great. I didn't have one though.

The "Spinning weal" had caught my eye first.

Lots of woollyness

Then up the stairs to be confronted by fabric heaven

I didn't know which way to look first.

Mr T wants me to take up weaving as he fancies one of these.

I couldn't come away empty handed could I, especially as these were reduced.

We then took this good advice.

Great cafe with quite a bit of Cath about.

I love this bunting.

And by the time we got to Exeter I had finished my ear warmers which I might need over the next few days.

sorry about the picture--- I blame Mr T as he took it.

If I come across anything down here I think you should know about I'll let you know.

Christchurch

This is the port of Lyttleton in Christchurch in November, the place in New Zealand that Guy and I felt we could quite happily live. It had a real village atmosphere and  the buskers played classical music on a cello.

Reports today say that it is now unliveable. My thoughts are with the lovely, friendly people of Christchurch.

Monthly makes

I know this isn't strictly a monthly make but it is what I have spent most of my spare time doing over the last month so I am counting this as my monthly make.

When eldest daughter moved out we gained a spare room.
These are the before pictures. It hadn't been decorated since she was at highschool and she is 25 now.

Here are the after pictures .

I love this wall paper.

I found this picture in Shepton Mallet and knew it would go perfectly.

A great girly light, you can tell Mr T didn't have much say in this can't you.

I couldn't bear to paint over this.

And a place for my charity shop finds.

I now have a guest bedroom for the first time and just in time for our first guests of the year.

The final Hurdle

This is Blickling Hall at Aylsham,What do you think does it look like a good place to work?

Well yesterday morning I parked in the old walled garden,

And walked down here to the estate and had a job interview.

I have to tell you going back to work is the last big hurdle for me on the road to recovery as it was work that caused my breakdown in the first place and I have been so nervous about this. The job is  part time seasonal work in the shop and plant centre which is all I want or, I think, will ever be able to cope with again.  The buck no longer stops here.

Well

I have had the phone call and ( cue music) the Celebrations start here.

I've got a job.
Might have to have a glass of this tonight.
Wish me luck.
